Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the party reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can look forward to finding out which characters will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
